(IDEX Online) - The Swiss watchmaker Bovet 1822 has crafted a bespoke pair of his-and-hers watches that double as the dashboard clock of the new ultra-expensive Rolls-Royce Boat Tail.
The one-off handcrafted car is said to be the most expensive in the world, with an estimated price tag as a high as $28m.
Bovet designed and made a pair of reversible watches, together with a dedicated aluminium and titanium mount. The wearer removes the watch strap and inserts the timepiece into the dashboard.
Both timepieces feature a hand-engraved miniature of the Boat Tail, a 6.75-liter V-12 convertible with distinctive side-opening boat tail compartments in the rear.
The car is widely reported to have been commissioned by hip-hop icon Jay-Z and singer wife Beyonce.

(IDEX Online) - Hong Kong's auction houses say gem sales kept booming last year, even though the pandemic forced them to conduct their business online.
Christie's, Phillips, Sotheby's and Bonhams all reported record prices in a round-up by the South China Morning Post, although they did not disclose total revenues.
The single most expensive item (pictured) sold at a live auction was was a ring with a 12.11-carat fancy intense blue internally flawless diamond, flanked by white diamonds, which sold for $15.8m at the first post-lockdown sale, in July 2020. The high estimate was $12.25m.
The price per carat was $1.31m, reflecting what Christie's called "the robust global demand".
A close second for price was a 102.39-carat D-color flawless oval diamond, which sold for $15.6m in an unprecedented single-lot live auction, with no reserve, at Sotheby's. ...

(IDEX Online) - Two raiders fled smashed a jewelers' display case with a nail gun but fled when an employee pulled a gun and fired three shots.
The attempted robbery took place at the Katy Mills Mall, in Katy, Texas, USA, on Friday night.
The suspects - men wearing hoods, masks and gloves - were stuffing merchandise into a duffel bag when the employee started
They ran off, dropping most of their haul from the bag, together with the nail gun, said police, before driving off in a stolen car. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
